Spring Wind Resource
Source: Pacific Northwest Laboratories - U.S. Department of Energy
Map Description:
This map was prepared by Pacific Northwest Laboratories for the U.S. Department of Energy to assist in locating wind power generators. The map is from the publication entitled "Wind Energy Resource Atlas for the United States" and may be viewed or order from the links below. The darker colors represent a higher potential for wind power generation. In addition to being useful for locating wind generators, this map also indicates where wind may be significant issue to address in conservation planning. For instance, areas of high spring winds may indicate problems for crop dessication.

Cautions for this Product:
Local terrain features may interact with the windfield to cause the wind power to vary as much as ~ 50% to 100% from the assessment value. Thus, there may be local areas of high wind power in regions estimated to have low wind power; conversely, some local areas may have lower wind power than that shown by this assessment.
