Using mapped habitat information, satellite data, and expert opinion as guides, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) estimated the percentage of remaining intact habitat. This map is from the publication entitled "Terrestrial Ecoregions of North America: A Conservation Assessment, pg. 66, which is is an excellent resource for assessing the status and trends of biodiversity. For instance, the Central Tall Grasslands (60), Northern Mixed Grasslands (56) and the Central and Southern Mixed Grasslands (64) have little intact habitat left. In contrast, the Nebraska Sand Hills Mixed Grasslands (62) is largely intact. Cautions for this Product:
